Benue state police command is reported to have arrested four suspects in connection with the January 1 massacre in Benue state. The suspects were also arrested over the killings of Sgt Solomon Dung and other police officers. The command said the arrest was in line with the directives of IGP Ibrahim Idris who had ordered that all Persons involved in the killings in Benue state and those in possession of AK47 Rifles and other prohibited arms should be arrested, TVC news reports. One thing we humans always look for is safety. And one of the most common and instinctive ways of doing this is by finding safety in numbers. We generally don't feel comfortable doing anything unless we see other people going first. At the same time, we are hierarchical animals. Every time they test this, and every way they test this, it always comes out that way. Humans are self-organizing, hierarchical creatures. So are chimps. And the higher up a chimp is on the food chain, the more sex he gets. And the more bananas he gets. And since we also line up according to hierarchy, AND we split from chimps over 6 million years ago, it's not hard to see how much this social hierarchy plays into our daily lives. Meaning the higher up we are on this hierarchy, the better off we'll be. For a long time, this was fine. So long as society stuck into a basic structure. So long as everybody followed the rules. Mark Twain famously said history doesn't repeat, but it sure rhymes. There are plenty of theories that say history it's not a linear progression, that it is a cycle. A Russian dude named Kondratiev came up with these cyclical waves. That history more or less runs in cycles over 70 years or so. Another couple of guys, Strauss and Howe, came up with a similar idea. They tracked European history going back several hundred years. They are the ones that coined the term "millennial" to describe a certain generation. Their theory is there are four "archetype" generations. Each sub-cycle is twenty years. Baby boomers, generation X, millennials and generation Z. Their theory is that every 80 years, when the cycle of four generational archetypes repeat, there is major turmoil. This coincides with the revolutionary war, civil war, world war II and...
